Trump Faces Tough Odds Of Acquittal, Dismissal In DA's Case

Former President Donald Trump faces daunting odds of prevailing in the Manhattan district attorney's criminal hush-money case, according to recent statistics showing that less than 9% of indicted cases are diverted or dismissed and just 1% of defendants are acquitted.

John Moscow of Lewis Baach Kaufmann Middlemiss PLLC, a more than 30-year veteran of the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, said that plea bargaining has a significant impact on the outcome in criminal cases, as a defense lawyer has to level with the client. "You have a 4-in-10 chance of going to prison if you go to trial on this sucker. Is that what you want to do?" Moscow said. "Many people don't — and the numbers aren't that good."
