Lewis Baach Kaufmann Middlemiss (LBKM), a globally-recognized international litigation boutique, has added international arbitration and dispute resolution leader, Tim Taylor KC, as a partner. Mr. Taylor will reside in Doha and Dubai, further expanding the firm’s growing footprint in the Middle East. Mr. Taylor joins LBKM from King & Wood Mallesons (KWM), where he served as Middle East practice head for over a decade.

Mr. Taylor was one of the first solicitor advocates appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2011. Globally recognized, he specializes in international commercial and investment arbitration as well as complex multi-jurisdictional litigation, cross-border insolvencies, regulatory investigations, civil fraud, and asset tracing, having litigated disputes involving forty jurisdictions globally. He represents major corporations and financial institutions, sovereign states and parastatals, high-net-worth individuals and heads of state, with a broad range of experience across international trade and financial services, telecoms and media, construction, and banking.

“For over thirty years I have admired and respected Tim’s practice and ability to build relationships across the globe,” said Eric Lewis, Chair of LBKM. “Lewis Baach has always had a respected practice in the Middle East, and Tim will further expand and strengthen our offerings on the ground. His experience in the region is unmatched.”

“Over the years, I have witnessed Lewis Baach build its global boutique and attract some of the most complex and fascinating disputes worldwide,” said Mr. Taylor. “I’m honored to now call practitioners I have admired for decades my colleagues and am pleased to have the firm’s partnership.”

Prior to his role at KWM, Mr. Taylor served as head of the litigation department and international arbitration group at SJ Berwin LLP. He acts as an advocate both in international arbitrations under the rules of most major international arbitration institutions, as well as in the High Court in London, the DIFC Courts, the Dubai World Tribunal, and the Courts of the British Virgin Islands and Seychelles. As an arbitrator appointed by The London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and International Court of Arbitration (ICC), Mr. Taylor has mediated a wide range of commercial disputes. He has also advised on disputes and/or appeared in arbitrations in other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and Qatar. Mr. Taylor is also the founding director of the International Lawyers for Africa (ILFA) program, which aims to build legal capacity and strengthen the rule of law in Africa through placements with major law firms in the UK.
